Uploading the WordPress files into the web server.

Its time now to decide where your wordpress site need to appear, i.e, wordpress can be accessed while browsing http://.domainname.com (root directory) or wordpress can be accessed while browsing http://domainname.com/subdirectory (in sub directory).

The location depends on the server and hosting provider.

WordPress in the Root Directory
FTP: You can use an FTP client to upload the WordPress files(not the directory itself) to your Webserver. Upload to the root directory( depends on host and OS, usually public_html or wwwroot).
Shell Access: If files are already there in the webserver ( in case you used wget to download files as mentioned earlier), move all the contents of the wordpress directory (but not the directory itself) into the root directory( usually public_html ) of your web site.
Wordpress in the Subdirectory
FTP: You can use an FTP client to upload the WordPress files(not the directory itself) to your Webserver. Rename the wordpress folder in to the desired name. Upload the folder itself to the root directory( depends on host and OS, usually public_html or wwwroot).
Shell Access:  If files are already there in the webserver ( in case you used wget to download files as mentioned earlier), move the wordpress directory itself into the root directory( usually public_html ) of your web site and rename the wordpress directory to the desired name.

Make sure that the option to convert file name into lower case is disabled in the FTP Client.
